Getting started

What is Jou Garage?

Valet storage, door to door. Think of us as your other garage: we collect your things from your door, store them safely, and bring them back whenever you ask — mostly over WhatsApp.

How is this different from a normal storage unit?

Two big differences. You only pay for the boxes and items you actually store — not an empty room. And you never have to drive anywhere: we handle pickup and delivery for you.

Where do you operate?

We’re rolling out across South Africa, starting with Cape Town. Pop in your suburb when you sign up and we’ll tell you your collection day — or let you know the moment we reach your city.

Do I need to download an app?

No. You can do everything on WhatsApp, and this website does the same things if you prefer a screen.

Boxes & bulky items

What can I store?

Two kinds of things: boxes (you pack and seal them, priced by box size) and bulky items like beds, couches, fridges and bikes (priced separately because they’re trickier to handle).

Do you provide the boxes?

Yes — we bring sturdy boxes in a few standard sizes. Have a look at our size guide to see what fits in each.

How do I know what size box I need?

Use our size guide. Tick off what you want to store and it’ll suggest how many boxes — and which sizes — you’ll need, plus a rough monthly price.

What about fragile or valuable things?

Pack fragile items carefully and let us know. There’s a liability cap per box, and we strongly recommend not storing irreplaceable valuables or important documents you might need at short notice.

Pickup & delivery

How does collection work?

Each area has a regular service day. You pick a slot on your day, we arrive, and we take everything from your door. Your very first collection is on us.

How quickly can I get something back?

Request a delivery and we’ll bring it on your area’s next service day. Need it sooner? Choose on-demand for a dedicated trip whenever you want.

Can I get just one item back, not everything?

Absolutely. Request exactly the items you want from Your Garage and leave the rest in storage.

Pricing & billing

How much does it cost?

You pay a small monthly fee per box or bulky item, depending on size and which service tier you choose. Get an instant estimate before you commit to anything.

What are the service tiers?

Dark is cheapest (collected and returned on a fixed monthly date). Scheduled is the default (your area’s regular day). On-demand is premium (a dedicated trip whenever you want).

How am I billed?

Monthly, for as long as your things are with us. No buying space you don’t use.

Safety & peace of mind

How do I know my things are safe?

Boxes are sealed with a numbered seal when you pack them. If the seal is intact on return, you know nobody opened it. Bulky items are photographed at pickup and again at delivery, and you sign off on the condition.

What if something gets damaged?

We carry insurance and there’s a liability cap per box. The sealed-box system means we’re not liable for how you packed it — but we are responsible for keeping it safe, dry and sound while it’s with us.
